Learning My Heritage Language Later in Life

Many people assume I was raised bilingually because of my Mexican American heritage, but I didn’t start studying Spanish till I was 14. In my high school years, I learned a little, but I didn’t start learning Spanish more seriously until college. I made a video in Spanish and English to discuss why it was so important for me to reclaim this part of my heritage later on in life. Do any of you share a similar story? Please leave a comment so we can connect!

I am also doing my best to help my daughter foster a connection to her Hispanic heritage. You can read more about this on my article at Mommy Maestra
